June 14, 2004
. . .
Dear Clan,
I need to take a moment and be grateful for another beautiful day. It's
raining here in Louisiana, but I'm still alive.
.
. .
I've found it's always difficult to adjust to changes... Emily and Lucas
are out of school for the summer and I've found myself working for the
first time in 8 years. I'm realizing that I'm still just as driven and
obssessive as I used to be. I opened a gift basket business out of our
home with a partner on June 1, 2004. At first, things went so smoothly...until
I decided to make it happen faster. I wanted to get that website finished
and have thousands of visitors to our site...right away. Where was my
God?
.
. .
Today is better. I remembered that life goes more smoothly when I let
God drive. The business will happen. It's a great idea. But I am a Mom
second, and a Child of God first. I found God right where I left him.
(Probably shaking his head saying, "Thought you could do it by yourself
again, huh? I gave you a bad sense of direction for a reason...")
.
. .
Emily is a beautiful young girl now. Finding her place in her social world.
She will be entering the 3rd grade in the fall. Second Grade went well
for her. She got all A's and B's, won the computer and math awards for
her class, and...got the good conduct award for A's and B's in conduct.
We are most proud of the fact that she is learning to control her impulsive
and dramatic behavior. She's wonderful! She's busy taking swimming lessons,
hanging out with her Brownie friends, taking a Musical Drama camp, Girl
Scout camp, and a Craft camp this summer.
.
. .
Lucas had a great year of his own! It's a joy to see him come into his
own. He's finally old enough to be involved in his own activities, and
express his own interests. He did extremely well in Kindergarten this
year. His teacher said that if all her students were as enthusiastic as
he is, her job would be easy. He's started baseball, swimming lessons,
and will attend a science camp where he gets to build rockets.
.
. .
My baby, Hannah, isn't a baby anymore. She'll start Pre-K in the fall
at her siblings' school. It's so fascinating to watch her find her place
in the dynamic of this family and to actually converse with her. She's
taking swimming lessons this summer, too.
.
. .
Tim is doing the work of 3 people until they get a couple of prospective
employees through security clearance. I know he will be relieved when
that happens. He had received a promotion to Site Lead, and we are extremely
grateful for somewhat secure employment. He spends almost all of his free
time with our children. (I think he uses them as an excuse to have fun!)
.
. .
My family has truly been a blessing in my life.
.
. .
We are looking forward to a trip to Kentucky over the 4th of July weekend.
.
. .
Love and Peace to you all,
.
. .
Kristi
